Paver Patios

The centerpiece of most backyards we build.

Overview

Explore our Paver Patios work

A paver patio is the project most of our customers start with, and it is the one that changes how a yard gets used more than anything else. We build square, rectangular, curved and free-form layouts in large-format slabs, tumbled pavers and classic brick, with a contrasting soldier course or border ring to frame the whole thing.

Pavers have one big advantage over a poured slab in this climate: they flex. Individual units move with the frost instead of cracking across the middle, and if a utility ever has to come through, we lift the pavers, do the work, and set them back. Done right, the seam never shows.

How it works

Our Paver Patios process

No mystery, no surprises — here's exactly how a job runs from the first call to the final walkthrough.

  1. 01

    Site consult and layout

We measure the space, talk through furniture, grill and traffic flow, then mark the shape out on the ground so you can walk it before anything gets dug.

  2. 02

    Excavation and grading

We excavate to depth for the paver, bedding and base, and set a slope away from the house so water sheds instead of pooling at the door.

  3. 03

    Base prep and compaction

Aggregate base goes in and gets compacted in lifts, then we screed a bedding layer flat. Skipping compaction here is why patios ripple after two winters.

  4. 04

    Paver installation

Field pavers go in to pattern, then the border. Every cut is made on site with a wet saw so the border follows your curves cleanly.

  5. 05

    Edge restraint and polymeric sand

We install edge restraint around the perimeter, sweep polymeric sand into the joints, compact, and activate the sand so joints lock up and resist weeds and ants.

  6. 06

    Cleanup and walkthrough

We haul off the spoil, straw and seed the disturbed areas, and walk the finished patio with you.
